Gorham Engraved Circular Pattern

from $15.00

This pattern was engraved by the Gorham silver company between the 1890s and the 1920s at their factory in Providence Rhode Island. the prints are taken directly off of the steel master plate. Only a handful of these steel plates exist. They were the tool used to place the engraved image onto the center of ornate silver platters. The prints are available in both relief and intaglio form. Due to the imperfect format of hand printmaking, and the age of the steel plates, each print will be unique. Occasionally brayer marks may be present on relief prints where the ink was rolled on the plate. Intaglio prints may have some markings on the surrounding edges of the design due to rust pitting or scratches on the 100+ year old steel plate.
